Ocean Minded focuses on finding a sustainable but effective solution to skin care. Many natural skin care brands have sustainable and easily compostable or recyclable packaging but often have subpar results in the effectiveness of the product. Ocean Minded’s salicylic acid cleanser combines dermatologist recommended ingredients with sustainable and effective packaging solutions.

I created the name and logo of the brand based its mission of creating products that are “Good for you. Good for the planet.”, not resulting in more plastic trash ending up in the ocean.

In the design of this project, I focused on highly recyclable materials that don’t require special drop off points for consumers. Using glass, metal, and post-consumer cardboard for all package elements allows this product to be fully recyclable at home. Additionally, I designed it as a refillable large bottle to reduce the number of bottles being created and shipped. However, in tandem with the large format, I decided to include a small metal dropper bottle to make it travel friendly.
